It feels like once you ave kids you settle into the "routine" the same things everyday....and they usually go in the exact same order everyday!!! That's what you do when you have kids, you keep them on a schedule so they know what to expect day to day or at least you do your best to try. When you decide to do something out of the norm it can be very exciting, and for us a day at the lake on our boat is just what we need sometimes :) Before we had kids we were on our boat at least twice a week during the summer, we put endless hours on our boat since we got it in 2006. That all came to a screeching halt when little Ashlee came along!! Even though her first boat ride was around 7 weeks old those days were far and few between. It just became to much work for us to get to the lake!! We even contemplated selling it at times but couldn't bring ourselves to do it, there are just too many memories in that boat for us.Yesterday we decided we have the day off...yeah we should do stuff around the house, help prepare for the baby, grocery shop..etc...but we decided to let all that go and head to the lake. We knew Ashlee has a love for this as much as we do :) all the way there "mommy daddy Ashlee's boat...fast" she said those words almost all the way there. Once we got there and got in the boat she told us she was soooo happy to be on the boat. She was an absolute perfect angel the entire time..laughing, smiling, yelling whoo-oo with me on the bow of the boat, it was an awesome day!!! We are so happy she loves the boat so much because this is one of most favorite things to do. This is the first time bringing her to the lake we felt she really enjoyed herself, it always felt like to much work up until this point!! Now hopefully Baby G will enjoy this boat as much as the 3 of us do!!!

When you consider 100 degree's to be cool
You know you live in AZ when you think 100 degree's is "cooling down" but when you have gone through more than 30 days of over 110 it really does feel great :) This has been one of the worst summers in AZ since I've lived here...being pregnant didn't help either!!! and maybe the fact I have a very active 2 year old who loves the outdoors and has to stay indoors, she would stand at the slider everyday and beg to go outside. "I'm sorry honey its too hot" I must say every single morning and evening. Thank goodness we were able to keep ourselves very busy this summer with lots of indoor stuff. I'm involved in a very active mom's group which has stuff going on everyday, we do Kindermusic once a week which Ashlee absolutely loves, many trips to the children's museum, libraries and aquariums. Now we can look forward to parks, the zoo (we can finally use our annual memberships) splash pads, and wagon rides around the neighborhood. My morning started out with my drinking my coffee and reading the paper on our patio while Ash played with her toys...we went to a splash pad and park in the later morning with our moms group and the kids had a blast running around and being outdoors. During the day we bathed the dogs while the hubby smoked some ribs and sausage, and during the evening we sat outside enjoyed some rain and cooler temperatures, and amazing food, it was a great day and evening for the Goddard family :)
Even though it did get to 100 degree's it was bearable and we were able to enjoy almost a day of being outdoors. Let's just hope these temperatures stay the same or get cooler...we are really looking forward to our favorite time of year..."Autumn" we have Halloween, Thanksgiving and of course the arrival of Baby G :)

HOME STRETCH.....THE 3RD TRIMESTER
Just when I thought this pregnancy couldn't be going any slower I get an email alert saying you are 28 weeks and starting your 3rd trimester....wow already I thought, and this little baby will be here before we all know it.
The honeymoon trimester is over and now I guess it's time to look forward to being uncomfortable, not sleeping well, back aches, and all the crazy things that happen to us women during pregnancy. So far I've been so lucky and have had a super easy pregnancy (knock on wood) Everything is going smoothly and I feel great! This baby is alot different from Ashlee, very active and never stops moving. Baby G's been head down for a while so I feel things way different...instead of the ribs killing me, my hips and pelvis hurt and I feel like I"m always in the bathroom. I'm still able to work out in the gym and be very attentive to my extremely energetic 2 year old that keeps me on my feet all day. Thanks to her I haven't put on much baby weight :)
I finally found a great doctor....this will be my 3rd one :-/ but all is good and I'm really happy with her. I didn't have a great doc the first time around so I was determined to find a good one this time. I found one who is totally supportive of my birth plan, and I'll tell you unless you go to a midwife it's really hard to find in a doctor. Unfortunately I have to drive about 40 minutes to see her, but in the end it will be worth it and I can visit my best buddy in Scottsdale all at the same time. I have hired the best doula and have my family's support on my decision and that is one of the most important things to me.
I have all the nursery items for Baby G, I just need to get motivated and get everything up, I am really not one to wait until the last minute and once I realized how quickly this baby will be here I got a little panicked and am on what my hubby calls" turbo mode" to get everything done. Having a baby coming around the holidays is a little crazy and requires a little more work because I want to make sure everything remains the same for Ashlee. I contemplated on even putting holiday decorations up because I thought it would just be too much work, but I can't do that to Ash..she loves all the lights and holiday decorations and so do I, it's my favorite time of year.
So next on the agenda for Baby G, I have my glucose test this week (not looking forward too) and next week we have our follow up ultrasound along with 3D pictures. I love getting to see the baby and it's great for Ash too I think it helps her to understand whats going on......how much her life is about to change..in a good way of course :)

Mommy big potty!!!
The time has come that I've been dreading most......potty training!!!! In a perfect world I would love to have this girl out of diapers before Baby G arrives. We have conquered 1 of the 2 things I would like to have done. I'm not going to go into to big girl bed much because there's not much to say...she did really well with the transition and loves her big girl bed and her new room!! The only thing we deal with is putting ALOT of stuff away in the morning because she feels sleeping with most the clothes in her drawers and some of her shoes in essential...and you know it works for us!!! Best of all she hasn't even figured out the freedom she has because she doesn't even leave her room, she calls for us to come and get her!!!
The potty training thing I'm dreading because it means we must stay home for a bit and get it all figured out...I'm pretty confident she's ready its' me who looks for every excuse not to do it!! My newest excuse is it's too hot outside and running from the car with a toddler and being pregnant to find a toilet just doesn't sound fun to me :( She lets' me know when she's gone and now it's gone from "mommy doo-doo" to "mommy big doo-doo" alot of times she'll tell me "doo doo" out of the blue and I''m thinking it's a ploy to get out of doing something she doesn't want to do, then 5 minutes later she went and I feel bad!! So we are going to dedicate some time to being home and getting this thing done...potty training boot camp is about to begin in our house :) cross your fingers and pray for us all!!!!Tuesday, August 9, 2011
Toddler Translation
Ashlee has never been great with her talking, although noises never stop coming from her mouth it's hard to make out what she's saying. Being I'm with her a lot of the time I've come to understand what she means or at least what she's trying to say...well most of the time :) I call myself her "toddler translator"
She likes to use 1 word to describe several things...I'm not sure if that's the lazy coming out in her or it's just her way of making it easier on herself. For example when she uses the word "sigh" that word means sit, yes, and pacifier. When she uses the word "ni ni" that word means night night, banana, and Nana :) the list goes on and on. She is finally putting 2 and 3 words together, like today when we left her 2 year appointment she told the ladies in the office "bye bye and thank you" like I said before noises never stop coming out of her mouth, she talks to herself in the car all of the time and in her bed she has conversations with her dolls and bears, we just can't always make out what it is she's saying!!! Last night on our walk I asked my husband I just wish I could have some piece and quiet for a minute as Ashlee's babbling away in her stroller only to stop to take a breath...that's when I realized those days are over :( I remember the days of worrying that she didn't talk enough or people would say she's so shy and quiet....what happened to that little girl because she's gone!!!

I can't believe it's true our little girl is 2
I've never believed in a saying more than I believe in kids grow so fast.....you blink your eye and they're another year older. Yes it's true our little Ashlee is 2!!! Unfortunately we couldn't do much because of the chaotic month we had planned. We had our trip planned to San Diego and we left on her actual birthday the 24th of July. So I just planned a little party for her with some friends from our play group and family. We had a great turn out and everyone seemed to have fun. It always amazes me how much time and thought oh yeah and money :) you put into these little parties and they're over before you know it.
So little Ashlee's actual birthday consisted of a 6 hour drive to San Diego in our new Suburban....yeah we bought the big family SUV, never thought we would but with our last trip in Jake's truck we had to do something. We traded Jake's baby I mean truck in for a 2004 white Chevy suburban...it's got it all leather, DVD player, sunroof.....and a bunch of things that make Jake happy that I don't know anything about. It worked perfect for our drive and has oh so much room and Ashlee got to watch cartoons all the way there :) not sure if the DVD player is such a good thing being that now every car we get in she asks for TV. We got to see uncle Matt on our drive to Yuma which is always a treat since we don't see him too much.
We spent a almost a week in San Diego for a family reunion..we did the beach thing and of course Sea World which was the most comical part of the trip. I was so excited to see how Ashlee would react to things, we took her when she was one year old and she' didn't care about much. Well this year was totally different, she sure cared alright she was afraid of all the characters, wanted to ride the rides until it was her turn which totally shocked me because she usually likes those kinds of things. Where she did amaze me was sitting through all the shows like a champ...loved shamu,,,pets rule.... and especially the 4d sesame street show where she tried so hard to grab the cookie that was coming to her in 4d, she proceeded to ask for a "cadu" which is cookie for about an hour after the show. Anyone who knows Ashlee knows she has her own language in which I"m her interpreter :)
Our trip ended with a plane ride home which was the highlight of that little girls trip.....she absolutely loves airplanes and can pick them out in the sky no matter where we are....I don't think her love for airplanes had anything to do with the fact her parents are both flight attendants and her uncle Matt is a Pilot :)

Our Family is Growing
On March 25 we found out we will be expecting our new bundle of joy...even though it's something we frequently talked about or should I say "I" talked about we were still totally shocked. We knew the day would come when we wanted to give Ashlee a baby brother or baby sister and the question is always when is the right time??? Well as we all know there is never a "right" time when it comes to having kids so this is as good as time as any :)
Baby G is due on November 28,2011....a thanksgiving baby...what more could you be thankful for!!! We have decided to not find out what we're having, call us crazy but what an amazing surprise. People ask "oh my how can you do it, I could never do that" I totally understand because with Ashlee that's totally how I felt I just had to find out. Today is the big day, our BIG ultrasound where we could be finding out what were having. They do all kinds of stuff too, just to make sure Baby G is growing properly and everything is functioning right!!
So far this pregnancy has been a walk in the park...besides the 3 weeks of morning sickness I had in the beginning I often forget I'm pregnant..but I am reminded by the growing bump which I can now only see the tips of my toes :)
